Sustainability

We're your partner in innovation. Helping clients move beyond why to how.

Our Approach

Creating value beyond the hype

Let’s deliver on the promise of technology from strategy to scale.

Decarbonisation Transformation

Approaching net zero requires companies to take a comprehensive look at their systems, from product design and supply chain to manufacturing and operations in order to determine where the carbon is and the best method for removing it. We work with companies at all stages of maturity to accelerate their journeys toward sustainability. We work side-by-side with our clients to design and implement operational change and deliver improvements that last.

WHAT WE DO

Success requires complex trade-off decisions that span product design, supply chains, industrial processes, distribution networks, circularity, and technology innovation. We help companies identify decarbonisation opportunities that work both environmentally and financially.

  • Manufacturing and capital expenditures: Our teams review the cost efficiency of the energy and resources used in manufacturing and leverage new sources to create emission-free and waste-free plants.

  • Product design and innovation: We perform complete product teardowns that include assessing value, resources, product circularity, and emissions, as well as identifying opportunities to substitute lower-carbon/less resource-intensive components without sacrificing performance or margin.

  • Sourcing and supply chain: We identify the suppliers, technologies, and developers needed to remove carbon from the supply chain, focus on low-carbon procurement and logistics, and improve the carbon footprint of existing suppliers.

  • Carbon tracking and accounting: We take an enterprise resource planning (ERP) view of how much carbon is being used at each step of the supply chain, targeting areas for the greatest carbon-reduction opportunities, and tracking the transformation’s progress.

Carbon Management

Pressure is mounting to make credible net-zero commitments. Acting now to invest in carbon management—a holistic approach to reducing, removing, and offsetting emissions—will enable organisations to lead in a rapidly evolving external landscape. We help our clients manage CO2, scale carbon capture and removal solutions, and navigate carbon markets.

To cut global emissions in line with climate goals, swift scale-up and significant investments are needed in carbon markets, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) and CO2 removal (CDR) solutions.

WHAT WE DO

Our extensive expertise, advanced analytics, and interactive insights allow us to partner with clients to develop and invest in new businesses and infrastructure, to expand the industry, and to create value on the path to net zero.

  • Prevent CO2 from entering the atmosphere to meet net-zero targets: CCUS helps companies capture CO2 before it’s released into the atmosphere from point sources, reducing the emissions of existing infrastructure, especially for hard-to-abate sectors. We partner with clients to identify CCUS projects and industrial hubs that are resilient and adaptable with market mechanisms that balance risk and value.

  • Remove CO2 from the atmosphere to reduce residual emissions: Nature-based removals (NBR) and technology-based removals (TBR) help neutralise residual emissions where physical, operational, or economic barriers limit decarbonisation. NBR uses natural processes while TBR employs manufactured technologies to remove CO2. We work with CDR developers, buyers, investors, and public entities to build and deploy CDR solutions.

  • Navigate carbon markets to capture opportunities and mitigate risk: Carbon markets allow companies and individuals to trade carbon credits and drive investment in carbon compensation and neutralisation projects to offset emissions. Corporates, investors, public-sector organisations, and NGOs use our assets and modelling to gain insight into carbon credit prices, supply, and demand in various market scenarios. We help establish infrastructure for voluntary carbon markets so clients can use them effectively.

Sustainability & Social Impact Strategies

As expectations rise and global regulations expand, many organisations still don’t have a solution to the current climate math equation. We help leaders identify the key actions that will get them closer to net zero. We work with them to solve for all key variables in the sustainability equation: carbon emissions, financial performance, capital investment, and societal impact. We diagnose their current sustainability positions, establish quantitative baselines, define clear aspirations, and design actionable sustainability plans.

WHAT WE DO

We help organisations assess the full potential of their sustainability efforts, analysing implications for portfolio strategy, green growth, and decarbonisation while also benchmarking ESG performance, setting goals, quantifying value at stake, and communicating strategies effectively to stakeholders.

  • Clearing a path to net zero: We map out investor and stakeholder expectations, assess your emissions across three scopes, identify green growth options, and create a set of targets to communicate to the market.

  • Reviewing and rebuilding to improve sustainability: We perform an “ESG teardown” by re-examining your entire operating model and value chain through the lens of sustainability. We baseline your footprint and governance against industry peers, identify and evaluate multiple business model options, and prioritise decarbonisation initiatives.

  • Optimising performance to eliminate carbon emissions: We benchmark ESG performance against peers, define and communicate a set of features to enhance safety, and develop a set of programs to promote skill building and employee wellness.

Natural Capital and Nature

Human activity is deemed to be outside the “safe operating space” for at least six out of the nine so-called planetary boundaries: biodiversity loss, chemical and plastic pollution, forest cover loss, freshwater consumption, greenhouse-gas emissions, and nutrient pollution. The destabilisation of any of these systems could result in irreversible and adverse environmental changes that would have significant local and global impacts.

WHAT WE DO

Our Natural Capital and Nature team works across sectors and geographies to enable a variety of initiatives to transition to a net-zero and nature-positive economy. Leveraging our industry research and advanced analytics, we co-create implementation strategies that generate new ROI-positive opportunities while identifying and managing systemic risks. The private, public, and social sectors each have a critical role to play in restoring nature.

  • Private sector: We support companies on their nature-positive transformations and facilitate green business building. Our process involves assessing nature-related risks across the value chain, identifying ROI-positive mitigation levers, and co-creating implementation plans with clear targets, actions, and reporting.

  • Public sector: We provide end-to-end support to countries and regions on the design and implementation of their national natural capital and nature commitments, per the United Nations Global Biodiversity Framework.

  • Social sector: We partner with nongovernmental organisations to help expand place-based and Indigenous-led conservation areas, maximising socioeconomic benefits for local communities.
